Readers

St Columba's Parish has a thriving team of people who read the scriptures and prayers of intercession at mass.   Volunteers may choose to read at 9.30am or 6.30pm masses on a Sunday or 9.30am mass on the weekdays. Reading rotas are prepared every three months.  Those who have volunteered as Sunday readers are given a rota containing the dates, team names and Sundays of the year.   They are also provided with a reader's guide which gives a short reflection on the theme of the mass and prayers of intercession which they can use or adapt as they wish.

We also have weekday readers who take it turn to read at the 9.30am mass or Service of the Word with Holy Communion, Monday to Saturday. Anyone who has an interest in the scriptures and can read clearly is welcome to become a reader.   Contact Siobhan Dunn for Sunday reading and Muriel D'Mello for weekday reading.

Eucharistic Ministers

Members of the parish who are trained and commissioned to assist the priest with the distribution of Holy Communion at masses and the taking of Holy Communion to the sick and housebound. They may also be called upon to conduct Eucharistic Services (Services of the Word with Holy Communion), when priests are not available.
Co-ordinator – June Halliday

Welcoming Ministers

Welcoming Ministers welcome parishioners and visitors to the parish during mass, distribute newsletters, prayer and hymn books, and organise
collections and offertory processions

Children's Liturgy

Members of the Parish run an alternative liturgy for children during Sunday morning mass which takes place during the scripture readings and homily.
All school age children are welcome.
